Hi! I’m Kevin Tan!
I study at San Jose State University majoring in Computer Science.
I consider myself as an adventurous person even if I don’t go out much. I love trying new activities and especially food. In fact, I’m a pretty big foodie and even have a food blog where I try to record almost everything I consume. I always bring my trusty DSLR with me everywhere possible so I can capture and record daily activities, whether it being a large event or just a small hang out.
If you see me on the streets, you’ll probably see me looking around all the time. I find myself inspired by the many objects and moments that are currently happening around me, and I look for the ones that simply catch my eye. Since I’m also quite into graphic design, I try to analyze what made the object or moment catch my eye to be able to apply it to my own work. I really strive for aesthetically pleasing designs so I find this very essential.
My fascination with photography started at an early age. I began with simple disposable cameras in elementary school where I’d take them on field trips and later have my parents develop them at Costco. Then around high school I got my first point and shoot, which was a Canon Powershot. This brings me to today where I finally got my first DSLR, the Canon Rebel T2i. I’ve simply taught myself about utilizing my DSLR simply by personal experiences through my food photography. I was able to play with the settings and really understand how to get the resulting photo I wanted. Of course it’s all just a work in progress.
